Why I love and hate downtown Phoenix...

Love: You can go to a movie at the AMC24 at the Arizona Center and have an entire theatre to yourself, as my friend Kim and I did today when we went to see "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story":

Hate: People park like assholes (though I suspect this is not limited to downtown Phoenix :). I'll bet the guy with the RAV4 is going to be a little pissed...

Double dose of culture...

So I was able to get to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art to check out the Edgerton Photography Exhibit before it closes tomorrow. You've all seen the stuff; super high-speed photography, much of it done way back in the 1930s:

Now this was WAY before computers (try to IMAGINE it, young people), so the methods they had to time the photography were ingenious indeed. After that, went and checked out the play/standup routine called "World of Jewtopia" which detailed all the funny things about being Jewish (or Gentile, for that matter). One funny part was where they put up a drawing of a restaurant and had the crowd figure not only where the only good table was located but also WHY the other tables were inadequate. Curiously enough, the crowd yelled out the correct answers for all of them (too close to the kitchen, to close to the drafty window, OUTDOORS, etc).

During the Q and A after, a young girl from the crowd mentioned that there were no cute Jewish men on Jdate. I assume this is because they are all trolling for shiksas on Match.com...

I'm a sea monkey murderer!!!

So I was visiting my neighbor Sherry's house and saw the following "thing" on her counter:

Now YOU tell ME that this does NOT look like a SNOW GLOBE, especially since I saw it from the back and did not see the "Sea Monkeys" label.

Do I need to explain what happened next?

I can only hope that they are all okay; time will tell.

I have a blog!

Okay, don't get too excited. It's not like there is anything interesting here to read yet and though I am not sure that there ever WILL be, I have heeded the advice of my friend Erica to create one.

If nothing else, as my memories fade (at an alarming ever-increasing rate, it seems) perhaps I can go back to this and figure out what the hell I spent my time doing.

We shall see.
